Deputy National Coordinator Lorna Hefford has spent the last few days down in the beautiful Akaroa Harbour checking out their marine reserves.
Pohatu which was established in 1999 and the Akaroa Marine Reserve which was only finalised in 2014. The reserves provide a fantastic platform for marine education. We were lucky enough to see a jumping thresher shark, hectors dolphins, regenerating paua, blue moki and got to swim with many seals on Canterbury's most stunning coastline. We hope to create EMR Canterbury within a year with the help of the Akaroa Harbour Marine Protection Society. We are on the look out for a motivated coordinator for this region, if this sounds like something you would be interested please send your CV to Lorna on firstname.lastname@example.org
