A tribute to Bill Ballantine 1937-2015
By Vince Kerr
Without any doubt Bill's contribution to marine conservation is legendary stuff. I would argue that Bill sits in a class of his own in our short New Zealand history of marine conservation. Last year he released a paper reviewing 50 years of experience with marine reserves; the fact that it is 50 years of his own direct experience is testament to his commitment.

Experiencing Marine Reserves has been adopted in South Australia and will be called Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries (EMS). The lead EMS coordinator is coming to EMR Northland for training this October/November
The Tindall Foundation recently celebrated their 20th anniversary of giving. They recognised Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust for making an outstanding contribution to New Zealand. The award was presented by Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae The Governor-General of New Zealand.
