Aramoana Snorkel Day

Explore the waters of Aramoana/The Mole by snorkel. Spot butterfish, sea tulips and bull kelp.
Fun for the whanau aged 12+*. Create a video of the event, partake in a Marine Metre Squared workshop and you could win a fully funded trip to the Poor Knights**.

This event is funded by The Tindall Foundation and supported by The Department of Conservation, Marine Metre Squared and LB Engineering.
It is part of NZAEE Seaweek.

When: 10am – 2:30pm - Please arrive 20mins prior to your registered time in your swimwear, Marine Metre Squared workshops running on the same times.
Back up date of Monday 25th of March 2019 (Otago Anniversary Day).
Where: Exact location TBC. Either on the Mole (seawall) or at Aramoana Beach (harbour side)

Bring your own gear or get free hire of our mask, snorkel, fins, hoods and wetsuits. Recommended for everyone 12 years and up. *Younger participants are welcome to attend if they have their own equipment.
All children under 15 years must be accompanied by an adult beach observer.
Experienced guides and advanced safety procedures will be in place on the day.

This event is donate to participate - either cash on the day, online or by donating your time in volunteering on future events.

* Poor Knights Annual Competiton Trip information

The Poor Knights Islands are a marine reserve off the coast of Tutukaka, Northland.
The Bobby Stafford-Bush Foundation is funding 2 students and their parents to attend the trip on Friday the 17th of May. All flights and accommodation included.

Students 18 and under are able to enter the competition.
They need to attend the snorkel day and a Marine Metre Squared workshop.
You need to create a video which addresses a marine related issue in the Otago Region which reaches the wider community.
It must include footage from the snorkel day.
