This event is funded by Whangarei District Council and is celebrating Seaweek.

Explore the Pataua estuary through this fun guided drift snorkel. Watch schools of Parore, piper and yellow eyed mullet and have a close look at triplefin, anemones and hermit crabs - this estuary will surprise you with its abundance of life! Bring your own gear or get free hire of our mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuits. Recommended for everyone 8 years and up. Children under 15 will need an adult supervisor with them in the water. Maximum of 24 participants per group, qualified guide will lead the group. Advanced safety procedures in place. Registrations essential.

When:
First snorkel: 9:30am -11pm
Second snorkel: 10:30pm - 12pm
Third snorkel: 11:30 pm - 1pm

We will gear everyone up and do safety briefing, then aim to be in the water on the full hour, i.e. first group in the water at 11am.

Directions:
Pataua estuary, Pataua. We will set up our EMR trailer at Pataua South near the toilets - but if you are coming from the northern side just walk over the bridge!
Just in case you are not familiar with Pataua - the bridge connecting Pataua North and South is a foot bridge only, so you will need to pick the side that you are driving to before the start of your journey. If you are coming from Whangarei or further south it's probably easiest to drive to Pataua South, if you are coming from further north it may be best to drive to Pataua North!

Cost:
Koha - either by cash on the day, donate online or volunteer on one of our snorkel days. Most people donate $5-10 per person.

As this is a free event and requires registration - if you give less than 48 hours notice or do not show up an invoice of $20pp will be issued.
