The snorkel so nice, we’re doing it twice!
Come on down to Mountains to Sea Wellington’s second free community snorkel at Whitireia park. For all those who can’t make it to the first, or anyone just really loves hanging out with us, this is your chance. A chance to experience some of that magic that comes from immersion, in salt water, and in the marine environment.
A not to be missed day full of snorkelling and community spirit, plus we could really use some help finding a few of the chunky seahorses that call this patch of coast home!
Nervous at the idea of getting into the ocean? Never fear, our team of incredible snorkel guides will be on hand to assist you in your underwater adventures. They’ll help you get kitted out, answer any fishy questions you might have and generally look after you whilst you take the plunge.
New snorkelers are, of course, allowed and generally encouraged, we love being able to facilitate peoples first snorkelling experiences (but you must be able to swim). Don’t worry about equipment, we provide wetsuits, snorkels, flippers and masks. If you do have your own gear, you are more than welcome to bring it along.
Please note the minimum age for participation is 8 years old, and children below 16 must be accompanied by a snorkelling adult.
There’s no need to book, just turn up and register for the next available snorkel tour. If you click attending on this Facebook event, you’ll receive important information and updates, including a confirmation of the location on the day.
HOW TO GET THERE:
CAR:
The road to the snorkel site is narrow and can be dangerous when there is a lot of traffic. If possible consider carpooling with a few people. There will be clearly signposted parking available throughout the day.
CYCLE:
You can also cycle to the site around the beautiful coastal track. Starting at Titahi Bay Boat Club, it’s 5km to the snorkel site.
WHAT TO BRING:
Togs, towel, sunhat, camera, warm clothes and a sense of adventure.
We can’t wait to see you there!
This event is brought to you by Greater Wellington Regional Council and Mountains to Sea Wellington.
