Explore Lake Rototoa with Experiencing Marine Reserves in partnership with Auckland Sea kayaks and Aoteoroa Lakes.
With funding from the Auckland Council we are running our first Kayak and Snorkel Day at Lake Rototoa, one of Auckland’s precious dune lakes. Join us for a day of guided kayaking with Auckland Sea Kayaks, snorkelling with our experienced volunteer guides, Check, Clean, Dry workshops with Auckland Council, freshwater workshops by Aotearoa Lakes and several other environmental information stalls . Fun for the whole whanau!

Pre-Registrations are essential for the kayaking, however for the snorkelling you can register on the day. Minimum age for kayaking is 10 and for snorkelling it is 5. No minimum age for the land based activities.
 
Please note that the kayaking and snorkelling do not depart together - they are separate activities.
Registrations will open to locals first on the 2nd February, then they will open to the general public on the 13th March.

Snorkelling registrations open from 10am – 2.30pm (register on the day)
All snorkelling gear provided for free, including wetsuit, mask, snorkel and fins.
 
Kayaking time slots (pre registration essential)
There will be 8x hire spots and 8x BYO spots for each time slot. Please arrive 15mins prior to your start time.
Slot 1: 9.45am-11.15am
Slot 2: 11.15am – 12.45pm
Slot 3: 12.45pm – 2.15pm
 
 
Where: Lake Rototoa, 23 Donohue Road, South Head
Parking: At the South Head Hall, follow the signs
 
COVID-19 Information
This event will be able to run in Level 1 only. At Level 2 or above we will be postponing to a later date.
Please note the following information. If you have any concerns – please contact us.
• Your registration information will be held for contact tracing. We will also have a contact tracing QR code to scan.
• All shared equipment will be sanitised between uses.
• There will be hand sanitiser at the registration tent for participants and crew to use.
