Join Mountains to Sea Wellington, as well as Worser Bay Boating Club, for a day of aquatic exploration, both on land and under the waves.
Worser Bay Boating Club has been working with schools in the Eastern Suburbs, the NZ Marine Studies Centre, and Mountains to Sea Wellington to establish a NZL Blue Belt Site at Worser Bay. Find out all about the project and the impact it will have on local marine life. Get hands on with the tools used to monitor ocean health, speak with students about their involvement, and get your hands dirty with interactive displays!
There will also be the opportunity for you to sea the Love Rimurimu restoration sites in person, during a guided snorkel tour.
Beginner snorkelers are encouraged (but you must be comfortable in the water).
We provide all the gear free of charge and will also buddy you up with an experienced snorkel guide to facilitate the best experience possible. Our guides will get you kitted out, answer any fishy questions you might have and generally look after you whilst you take a dive into the salt and spray.
What to bring: Togs, towel, sunhat, warm clothes, drink bottle and snacks.
Please note the minimum age for snorkelling is 8 years, and children below 16 must be accompanied by a snorkelling adult.
Last registrations at 2:30pm. Registrations are held at the event. Follow the Facebook event to stay up to date with weather and any change of plans.
This event is funded by WLG Community and Environment Fund.
This event is organized in collaboration with Experiencing Marine Reserves - EMR, and Worser Bay Boating Club.
