Explore Lake Taharoa – see tuna/eels, kewai/kōura/freshwater crayfish and bullies
During the day we will have fun activity stalls for the whānau to enjoy, including weaving workshops, face painting, freshwater games, colouring competitions, spot prizes and more!
Bring your own gear or get free hire of our mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuits. Day snorkelling minimum age is 4 years old and twilight/night snorkelling minimum age is 12 years old. Experienced guides and advanced safety procedures will be in place on the day.
This event is funded by Water Safety NZ and is supported by Promenade Point Campground, Whitebait Connection, Northland Regional Council, Kaipara District Council, and Taharoa Governance Committee.

Day snorkel from 10am-3:00pm no pre-registration necessary but you can express your interest for the activity.
Twilight snorkel from 7:00-8:30pm
Night snorkel from 8:30-10:00pm

Cost:
Experiencing Marine Reserves runs a series of free and subsidised events over the summer months that rely on public support to make them happen. We appreciate donations, either cash or eftpos on the day, online or by giving a koha of your time volunteering at a future event. Some people donate $5-10pp.
Camping:
If you would like to camp over the weekend at the Promenade Point campground we suggest you book ASAP as it is a long weekend and the Lake is extremely popular.
