ISO – Therapy
About 75% of New Zealand molluscs are less than 10mm long when adult. Micro-mollusc hunting has become an obsession for many of our Experiencing Marine Reserves (EMR) team members and participants.
Micro-molluscs are very elegantly shaped and can be found washed up on our sandy shores, sorting these ‘teeny’ wonders has been reported as being very therapeutic.
EMR has decided to put a collection of these tiny treasures in sand for you to sort and classify during lockdown and beyond!
Once sorted you can add them to your very own twist locket necklace.
Package includes:
- Tin of sand and micro mollucs,
- ID chart and info
- 1, 2 or 3 lockets
EMR has developed our own micro mollusc ID chart that features true (less than 10mm) and juvenile species of common specimens found in North Eastern New Zealand.
Any collection during Covid 19 Alert level 4 has been completed in isolation while exercising and social distancing. All specimens are beach cast only (no live specimens) and no collection has taken place in any NZ marine reserves (or other MPA’s with special rules about shell collecting). This package has been sent using no public interaction. PLEASE note we will post using standard postage - all proceeds support EMR
